1st July, 2018|Life|ArchMedia Inc

My dear fellow Rotarians, Rotaractors, Interactors, distinguished Guests. Today marks another milestone in our club, the Rotary Club of Hilltop Calabar, as I assume leadership as the 33rd President. I consider it historic as it is taking place on the last day of 2017/2018 Rotary year.

I accept this task with utmost humility and a deep sense of responsibility. I have carefully gone through the list of past president of this club from charter President late Rotn Cornel Achima in 1986/87 to Rtn Arc. Enyi Ben-Eboh whom I have just taken over from. Indeed their shoes were large and I have decided to pad them so that my legs will fit in. I thank you immensely for giving me this opportunity. Rotary has no legs and no hands but your hands and mine will be used to turn the wheel of Rotary so that it will keep moving. Over the years the Rotary Club of Hilltop Calabar has been engaged in several service project.

In the 2018/2019 Rotary year the following  projects which are in line with the six area of focus have proposed for implementation.

2. Malaria Awareness Campaign/Donation of Treated nets to pregnant women.
3. Visit orphanage Home/Donation of gift items

This is in addition to the routine polio immunization exercise, borehole provision in needy communities and various other sensitization and vocational service interventions. The theme for this 2018/2019 Rotary Year is "BE THE INSPIRATION"

We must inspire others. It is Anne Frank who said that "Everyone has inside him a piece of goodnews. The good news is that you don't know how great you can be! How much you can Love! What you can accomplish! And what your potential is" and Norman Vincent Peale adds " Change your thoughts and you can change the world" ,"And  single sun beam is enough to drive away many shadows" says Francis of Assisi. Again, "if opportunity doesn't knock build a door." Milton Berle. "Your big opportunity may be right where you are now" Napoleon Hill "There is nothing impossible to him who will try" Alexander the Great.

Fellow Rotarians, Ladies and Gentlemen, Rotary takes your time, talent and treasure in the course of putting smiles on the faces of those in need in our communities. I solicit that Rotarians and all well meaning people will join hand with me in serving humanity. "Thousands of candle can be lighted by a single candle and the life of the candle will not be shortened. "Happiness never decrease by being shared." Budda.

I invite you all to come and Share Rotary With Me and Be The Inspiration by activating any or all of our proposed projects already mentioned through your very kind support.

Thank you.

Apple fighting against its government

The United States government has demanded that Apple take an unprecedented step which threatens the security of our customers. We oppose this order, which has implications far beyond the legal case at hand.  This moment calls for public discussion, and we want our customers and people around the country to understand what is at stake. The Need for Encryption Smartphones, led by iPhone, have become an essential part of our lives. People use them to store an incredible amount of personal information, from our private conversations to our photos, our music, our notes, our calendars and contacts, our financial information and health data, even where we have been and where we are going. All that information needs to be protected from hackers and criminals who want to access it, steal it, and use it without our knowledge or permission. Customers expect Apple and other technology companies to do everything in our power to protect their personal information, and at Ap...
