Rotaract Club of Canaan City(CB) Carried Out Projects to Mark Basic Education and Literacy

The Basic Education/Literacy Project & Oral Hygiene/Hand Washing Projects of Rotaract Club of Canaan City ( CB) at Government Primary School, Obufa Esuk, Calabar, Cross River State on 11th -12th October, 2018.

The project was divided into two phases (Oral Hygiene/Hand Washing and Basic Education/Literacy ) and had its theme as; Oral Hygiene/Hand washing project for phase I and Rotarian Olajide Ajala Basic Education/Literacy Project in parternership with Life Resources Network for phase II.

Day one
The project commenced at 10.00am prompt with a formal presentation and introduction of the club and Partner alike Rotaract Club of Canaan City (CB) and Life Resource Network at Government Primary school, Obufa Esuk, Calabar. The project began with the spelling Bee competition amongst fifty (50) pupils randomly selected by the school authority from primary 5 and 6 respectively where the pupils were engaged intellectually. After a successful conduct of the exercise, pupils were encouraged to be optimistic about advancing to the next stage where the best ten (10) pupils shall be competing for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd position in the second day of the competition.

Consequently, the program was carried into the second phase in the lower basic classes where pupils were taught on how to wash their hands and brush their teeth by resource persons in the person of Kini Alexis (A Rotaractor) and Omori, Omori E. who is also the President of the Rotaract Club of Canaan City (CB),Calabar. The exercise was brought to a close with the distribution of tooth brushes and tooth paste to participated pupils.

Also in attendance where Rotaractor (12), Guest (3) and a representative of Life Resource Network (Barr Kieran Ogbe). The exercise came to and end at 1.30pm with the President closing remark.

Day two.
The programme took its advanced stage on the second day as Rotaractors, Guest and other associates arrived the school premises at 10.00am prompt. The activity began with the concluding phase of the Spelling Bee Competition where the selected ten (10) were involved in a brain racketing session. The activity had a representative of Life Resource Network as the umpire and was successfully performed. In the end of the competition, the following pupils emerged as winners for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd places;

- Idaraobong Effiong Patrick (Primary 6)- 1st Position
- Gracian Bassey Etim (Primary 5) - 2nd Position
- Bright Jacob Eleng (Primary 5)- 3rd Position

The  winners of the Spelling Bee competition were issued certificate of participation and other gift items as part of encouragement to keep taking their studies very serious.
Others activities to mark the project were darking of black board by the club members, distribution of 60 leaves exercise books, pens, pencils, sharpeners, markers and other relevant educational materials to the pupils and the school. The event had in attendance Rotaractors (15), Guests(2) and representative of Life Resource Network (Barr Kieran Ogbe).

Making her vote of thanks, the Head Mistress of the School Mrs Nya Nkoyo Ani expressed satisfaction on the good gesture extended by the club to the school in such a time like this. She said, she was more particular about the fact despite where the school is located, she was still recognized to be given such attention. She prayed God to continue to keep and sustain the club and members to better the lives of those that need assistance such as that the have received. In addition, one of the teacher of the school Mr Mbang Effiom also extend his appreciation to the club. In his words; we really appreciate what Rotaract club of Canaan City has done for the school today, if most organisation can do this, we will have a better educational system. We pray God to bless the club to do more in the nearest future.

The excerise came to an end at about 2pm with the President expressing gratitude to the coordinator of Life Resource Network- Bishop Micheal P. Okom who was fully represented by Barr Kieran Ogbe, he also was delight on the turn out and sacrifices made so far by his club members for the successful execution of the projects.

Who said there is no money in CRS-Facebook User Question CRS Govt.
