CBN suspends deputy governor, directors for fraud

One of the three deputy governors of the Central Bank of Nigeria is currently on suspension for being involved in ‘a sophisticated plot’ to defraud the bank a huge sum of money, findings by our correspondent have revealed. Top officials of the CBN close to the development told our correspondent that two directors of the bank were also suspended over the multi-million naira scam. The officials, who spoke under the condition of anonymity because they were not authorised to speak on the matter, said their suspension was ordered by the CBN Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, after preliminary findings revealed that they might be culpable. The CBN had on Thursday night said it had uncovered what it described as a highly sophisticated plot to defraud the bank by some people. Cristiano Ronaldo- current Ballon d’Or holder will be set to defend his title as he was named to the 30-man shortlist alongside the likes of Lionel Messi, Neymar, Luis Suarez, Harry Kane and Robert Lewandowski. A Nigerian based choir- Akwa Ibom has broken the world record of largest number of Christmas carol singers in the world.The group called the Unity Choir held a concert in Uyo Township stadium on December 13 with Guiness record personalities in attendance. The choir had in attendance 25 275 members which surpassed the former record of 15 675 carol singer set by a group called CENTI in Bogota in Colombia on December 13. the performan ce lasted for 20 minutes.
