In a closed door meeting which held between the management team of the Rovers Football Club and the Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Sports Comr. Asu Okang at the Micheal Ani office, Housing the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development Cross River State today.
The Commissioner who expressed displeasure at the level of distraction created by members of the management board by interfering in the selection process for which an expert, an international coach - coach Dorian, former coach of Eritrea National team was hired.
He reiterated the need for management to clearly understand it's role as caretakers of the club with which welfare is a key component of that responsibility and warned them to stay off the professional selection process to avoid being displaced.
He explained that the overhauling of the club was aimed at getting positive results and catapulting the club to enviable heights even as their major objective is to hit the premier league next season as this can only be done if the system is cleansed from political influences and imbibing core professionalism and hard work, he added.
He tagged the group for the retrogression suffered by the team for the past two years with full liberty of operations. It would be recalled that in just two years, Rovers FC have made a downward progression from the National League to the current relegation stage.
He further charged every member involved to their responsibilities and urged them to exhibit capacity in a diplomatic manner.
"I am not against any of you who have player(s) and by your judgement feel is a good player from C'river origin, bring such person to the field and let the coach test and be satisfied with his performance. Gentlemen, all I want is results".
